Transitional Kindergarten
The Surreybrook Multi-Age Transitional Kindergarten program is a full day program and the first in the area to offer children the opportunity to be in an outdoor setting throughout their day. Low teacher/child ratios allow our teachers to spend quality time with each child and a small, secure environment provides a sense of belonging. Your child will love coming to school and you’ll love how much your child learns!
The program introduces a more formal education while continuing to promote the joy and wonder children have about their world. Aligned with national and state standards, we balance structure and subject-focus with exploration and fun. Our emergent curriculum incorporates cognitive development, social-emotional development, language and literacy, mathematics and reasoning, fine and gross motor, science and creative development.
We at Surreybrook believe that children learn best when they have the opportunity to explore, discover and create. Connecting with nature is a way to expand children’s minds. We do this by exploring outside-by comparing bugs, building a fort and learning about the abundance of wildlife in our backyards. Play and discovery through exploration gives children the chance to learn at their own pace and maintains their interest, enabling them to learn new skills such as critical thinking and problem solving.
